Sushi-Making for Kids, Free Yogurt & DP Cheesesteaks Downtown

By Ted Scheffler

Sushi for Tots
You’re never too young to begin learning the art of making sushi. So, Mikado sushi chefs are offering sushi-making classes for kids, ages 6-12. Children will learn how to make their own veggie rolls with dipping sauces, construct California rolls and also be taught to make dessert sushi with fresh fruit and chocolate. Participants also will learn important sushi-making terms and techniques, like how to distinguish maki from mochi. A class will be held at Mikado’s South Towne location (10395 S. State, Sandy) at 10 a.m. on July 10, with another at Mikado in West Bountiful (255 N. 500 West) at 10 a.m. on July 17. The cost for each class is $25 for one adult and up to two children, 6 to 12 in age. An adult must attend the class. Each class includes a free sushi-making kit. To register, e-mail Mary at mary@watkinsrg.com or phone 801-532-2076.

July 4 Free Yogurt
As a way of thanking its customers and Utahns for their support, LunaBerry (385 S. 700 East, 801-359-0427) will be giving away free frozen yogurt on Independence Day from 1-5 p.m. No purchase is required. YeeLing Lee’s LunaBerry features all-natural fat-free frozen yogurt (no canned, bottled or frozen fruits are used), as well as smoothies, shaved ice, crepes and its new Liege waffle, a common street food in Belgium. And, if you haven’t tried one yet, you owe it to yourself to bite into a LunaBerry Nutella crepe, with a choice of fresh strawberries or bananas. For more information, call the café or go to LunaBerry.com.

DP Cheesesteaks Downtown
Cheesesteak lovers rejoice! A new location of DP (Downtown Philly) Cheesesteaks
has opened at 83 E. 300 South, just east of the Wells Fargo building. Phone 801-883-8066 or go to DPCheesesteaks.com for menus and information.
