Arts-Kids, American Red Cross Haiti Relief Dinner & Heroes Night

With the Legislature’s circus of fiascos in full swing, it’s nice to know there are real people doing good work in the community. Sample a taste of these efforts this weekend with a dinner to support an after-school arts program. Later, enjoy a Red Cross benefit for Haiti or check out an evening honoring local heroes.

Arts-Kids “Step-Up-to-the-Plate”
Sunday, Feb. 28
For more than 10 years, Arts-Kids has been offering after-school art classes to young whippersnappers in Summit County who could stand to learn life skills through various art forms. The organization is holding a fundraiser dinner, where chefs from local eateries such as Squatters, Shabu and Butcher’s Chop House & Bar will provide diners a smattering of delicious offerings. It costs $30, and it’s all going to help the art program.

American Red Cross Haiti Relief Dinner
Tuesday, March 2
Might as well just keep the rhythm of eating for a good cause by checking out this four-course dinner at Ruth’s Diner for the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The dinner will set you back $35—vegetarian options are available—and will include music by artist Ian McIver. With Haiti a long ways from piecing itself together, every little bit helps.

American Red Cross Heroes Night
Wednesday, March 3
Tap into a little inspiration tonight as local heroes talk about changing the world for the better. From the Park City mothers who turned their grief from losing children to create a nonprofit that’s built a school in Ecuador to the tale of an Army sergeant on his way to a family picnic who came upon a bicycle/ SUV collision and saved a man’s life— tonight is a celebration of some of Utah’s great unsung heroes.
