“Subliminal” is a word with an uncomfortable familiarity due to its prevalence in pop psychology and the language of advertising. “Subliminal” is below the threshold of awareness, so “liminal” means something that is on that thin line between the subconscious and waking life.

“Liminal” straddles that line, as it transits across the surfaces of works by printmakers invited by Salt Lake City expat Camilla Taylor. The front-window installation by Milad Mozari chronicles an exchange of wax postcards between Brooklyn, N.Y., and Salt Lake City.

Taylor has curated six Print Exchanges previously, asking artists to provide a set of impressions enough to exchange with one another, archive and sell. Four of the artists—Taylor, Meg Charlier, Trent Call and Cein Watson—will be discussing and demonstrating their work at Coffee With the Artists on March 20 at 11 a.m. at Nobrow Coffee & Tea Company. They’ll share insights about how their own artistic inspirations reach the light of day.
