Re: “Glenn Beck: Latter-day Taint

I think it is pointless to resort to name calling on either side of this. However, I have to agree that the writer of this article did practically nothing to discount anything that Glenn Beck has said. Essentially all they have tried to do is say is that it is dangerous to listen to Glenn Beck, because he seems to talk like these other two people, and oh you would not believe how crazy those two people were, therefore Glenn Beck must be crazy.
First of all it is quite futile to attack Ezra Taft Benson, a former leader of the Mormon church. You already have alienated at least 50% of your target audience you are trying to speak to in Salt Lake City, and several million Mormons around the nation and the world. (Hard to believe this is coming from a Salt Lake City news source).
Second, how about we talk about the real issues Glenn is talking about. What will the effects of this Health Care Reform Bill bring to the national deficit? Why are many politicians in Washington trying to rush this huge reform through? How come several advisors to Pres. Obama have admitted affinity to the words of Hugo Chavez or Mao Tse Tung? Why are people in Washington spending trillions of dollars that they DO NOT HAVE, in the middle of an economic crisis?
I do agree with one thing that you said. Glenn Beck does speak what he believes, and do you know what, people listen to him. Lots of people. Articles that attack the man without any substance or counters to his arguements won't do anything to sway his audience, because he asks his audience to study the facts themselves, and make their own decisions. (Oops, that is a Mormon teaching too, run for the hills!)
