2011 News

What is the most memorable news story of the year?

Molly Daines: The moment Osama Bin Laden was no longer breathing.

John Paul Brophy: The earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear catastrophe at the Fukishima Power Plant in Japan has no equal.

Paula Saltas: The Royal Wedding and the not one but two kisses on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Ben Sharp: Susan Powell. I hope they fry Josh.

Eric S. Peterson: The 2011 Legislature’s blitz attempt to rewrite Utah’s open records laws in a matter of days despite public outrage. I still remember being at the committee that introduced the bill and hearing how angry all the other reporters’ typing on their laptops sounded.

Kolbie Stonehocker: The horrific earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan in March. Even though it happened across the world from us, it’s impossible to not feel connected to all those people who were killed. And it’s incredible to me that even though thousands of people lost everything they had, they are still living their lives and moving forward.

Chad Allen: Japan’s most powerful earthquake since records began striking the northeast coast, triggering a massive tsunami.

Rachel Piper: I don’t think I can honestly answer this question without revealing what a bad memory I have/how shallow I am.
