Happy Tuesday, music fans. There is some truly splendid music coming out this week, including the debut full-length album—one of my favorite records released so far this year—from Detroit rock band Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas, the sophomore album from New Zealand-born pop singer Kimbra and the fourth solo album by British singer-songwriter Imogen Heap.
Happy Tuesday, music fans. This week is a little spotty as far as new music goes, but there are still a few things worth checking out, including new albums from Brooklyn rap duo The Underachievers and North Carolina EDM producer Porter Robinson as well as the debut full-length from British singer-songwriter/producer FKA Twigs.
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne played a sold-out show Friday night at Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre. A nearly full—not yet super—moon backlit the amphitheater to add to the dreamy ambiance of the evening, and a mild breeze swept over the audience while lightning strikes lit up the skies to the West as LaMontagne appeared onstage to croon away.
Paul McCartney gave Salt Lake City all his loving at EnergySolutions Arena on Thursday night by playing his nostalgic mixed bag of Beatles classics, Wings hits and more recent solo work. McCartney entertained the full house with his finely crafted storytelling through music, anecdotes and visuals.

If you’re not out enjoying one of this weekend’s many festivals featuring free local music, check out the new local albums that are coming out this week. We’ll start with the online releases, and the first on the list is from post-rock band Someonce.
Happy Tuesday, music fans. My favorite new record from this week is Frozen Letter, the latest from North Carolina garage-rock/punk band Spider Bags (hell of a name—if I think about it too much I get the jibblies).
We're entering the last leg of summer music, and while we're getting to the last of the outdoor festivals and release parties, let's take a look at the last of what July has to offer. Plus, there are two release shows this weekend for you to check out.
