Glad You Asked: Weekend Edition

Dear GYA, First off, I wanna give a big shout-out to the one and only G.O.D. Thanks for all your love and support. Also, mad props and much love and respect to P. Diddy, Mystikal, DMX and, of course, DJ Khaled for all their help on my debut single "Poped a Molly" feat. Trinidad James. Whooop! Anything goin' off this weekend now that I've retired from the Pope game?- ex-Pope Benedict XVI---

Ex-Pope, It's a shame to see a young hustla like yourself retire so early. But, as they say, "Pope'n ain't easy." Here's what's up for this weekend. Let's start with Friday:

- Oklahoma band Broncho will be onstage at Brewskis. The show starts at 9 p.m.

- Dark Horse Theatre Company's production of Assassins will be happening at the Rose Wagner Center tonight. The show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $25.

- Indie-pop singer and songwriter Darwin Deez will be Kilby Court tonight at 7. Caged Animals and Hang Time will open things up. Tickets are $10 to $12.

- Bluegrass jam-band Leftover Salmon will be performing at Park City Live. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

- Stand-up comedians Chris Strait and Lou Angelwolf will be at The Egyptian Theatre tonight at 8. Tickets are $15 to $30.


Saturday's events:

- The Cody Jordan Band CD Release Party will be going down at Brewskis tonight at 10. There's a $5 cover for men; ladies get in free.

- The Complex will be hosting indie bands Passion Pit, Matt and Kim and Icona Pop. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $27.

- Menomena and Gaurds will be onstage at Urban Lounge tonight. Doors open at 9. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door.

Country band Reckless Kelly will be at In The Venue. Mickey and The Motorcars will open things up. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.


Sunday's events:

- The Craft Sabbath March Boutique will be happening at the downtown Main Library today at 1 p.m. City Weekly's The Word will be there, snapping pics and handing out swag.

- True TV, Big Shiny Robot and Brewvies will be showing a free screening of the latest The Walking Dead on the big screen. The show starts at 7 p.m.

- Lumpy's downtown will be throwing its Sunday-night Karaoke Party, beginning at 9.

- Local bands Night Beats, Max Pain & The Groovies and Breakers will be live at The Urban Lounge, starting at 9 p.m.; no cover.

- Electro-industrial bands Velvet Acid Christ and The Twilight Garden will be at Area 51 tonight at 9. Tickets are $14 in advance, $17 at the door.
