BYU heads south for their last football game of the regular season on Saturday against New Mexico State in Las Cruces. Here's what to do in the City of Crosses. ---

Check out: Before the game, head downtown to the Las Cruces Farmer's Market for local produce, food vendors and artwork. The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum has several childrens programs and offers livestock tours, as well as demonstrations of blacksmithing, weaving and other arts. Catch a flick at the historic Fountain Theatre, which screens films both old and new, classic and obscure.

Try this: High Desert Brewing Co. serves pub fare like green-chile cheese fries and fried ravioli, as well as craft ales and lagers. To experience Las Cruces's distinctive brand of Tex-Mex, head to Roberto's for enchiladas, or try the brisket burrito at Bosa Donuts and Burritos.

Sleep here: Hotel Encanto features historic Spanish Colonial architecture on the edge of town, with on-site Spanish dining. The hotel also welcomes pets. Meson de Mesilla, a short drive from Las Cruces in Mesilla, offers in-room jacuzzi tubs and a wine bar.
