The Jazz are headed to the Staples Center in L.A. to play one of their two back-to-back games against the Clippers on Oct. 17. If you haven't been to downtown L.A. in a few years, you're in for a treat; the LA Live complex, where the Staples Center is located, has revitalized the area and there's plenty to do and see while you're there. ---

Whether you're coming to watch the Clippers, the Lakers, the Kings or a concert, you can hang your hat at the JW Marriott or the Ritz Carlton, both of which are on-site. The complex is also home to the Grammy Museum. The museum presents more than 30,000 square feet of music history, with more than two dozen rotating exhibits and frequent films, lectures and performances.

There are also plenty of places for a hungry sports fan to stop for a bite. Stop by the Yard House for some great appetizers and, yes, a yard of beer, or try Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill for pizza and pasta. If your tastes tend toward the carnivorous, try Prime rib and sinfully good creamed corn at Lawry's Carvery. The Pantry, while not inside the LA Live complex itself, is just a few blocks away. The 88-year-old Los Angeles classic eatery is open 24 hours a day, and is a great place to grab one of the daily dinner specials or coffee and sourdough French toast.

With playing the Lakers and Clippers, the Jazz will make a few more trips to the Staples Center to play basketball, and you can head there for hoops and much more.
