Winter is coming, but there may be a weekend or two left to break a sweat for a good cause. This weekend, you can support a walk to raise awareness for hearing loss or to support families interested in adopting children.---

Two great charity runs are happening this Saturday, Oct. 13.  The Shadow Mountain Church in West Jordan is hosting a 5k run and 1-mile walk to help raise money for Life Song, a fund to help ease the financial burden of families seeking adoption. The event features a breakfast sponsored by Rubadue’s Saucy Skillet that costs $5 a person. Registration for the 5k is $25 a person, and the 1-mile fun run is $10 a person.

Check it out at the South Jordan East Pavilion, 10991 S. Riverfront Parkway, South Jordan, Oct. 13. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., race at 8:30 a.m. You can find more event details at Shadow Mountain’s website.

Also Saturday, the Walk 4 Hearing is going on in Sugar House Park, where you can help the Hearing Loss Association of America raise awareness of a condition afflicting roughly 36 million Americans.

Check it out at Sugar House Park, 2100 S. 1300 East; registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. For more info on the walk, contact event organizers at 801-556-2241
