Firefly getting TV reunion special

Posted By on July 11, 2012, 6:54 PM

Can you believe it's been 10 years since no one watched Firefly and it got canceled? ---

This weekend, the cast of the cult-favorite, one-season show (and follow-up movie Serenity, both available for streaming on Netflix) is reuniting at San Diego Comic-Con for an hour-long panel discussion, featuring never-before-seen footage and "numerous buzz-worthy surprises." And if you're not at Comic-Con, the whole thing will air as a TV special, Browncoats Unite. ---

The Hollywood Reporter first reported on the panel, happening Friday at 12:30 p.m. and featuring creator Joss Whedon, plus, of course, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher and Summer Glau. Along with scenes from the panel, Browncoats Unite—airing on the Science Channel, which has been showing Firefly reruns since 2011—will include more interviews with the cast. Entertainment Weekly reports that the special will air in November, though the promo banner on the Science website lists December 2012.

Personally, when I heard the words "reunion special," I was hoping for some kind of full-scale, in-character, "10 years after the events of Serenity" reunion, but this'll do for now.
