TV Weekend: Common Law, Reggie Watts, SNL, Mad Men

Posted By on May 11, 2012, 3:27 PM

What’s new on the rectangular mind number this weekend:

Common Law (USA, tonight) Series Debut: Detective partners Travis and Wes (Michael Ealy and Warren Kole) haaate each other but, damnit, they’re good cops! ---So the police chief (Jack McGee) forces them into marriage counseling with a sexy therapist (sexy Sonya Walger). Hence, bromantic antics, slick cop action and some genuinely funny setups. Think Starsky vs. Hutch—but don’t think too hard; this is USA, after all.

Season Finales tonight: Undercover Boss, CSI:NY, Blue Bloods (CBS); The Finder, Fringe (Fox)—see True TV.

Also new tonight:
Shark Tank (ABC); Who Do You Think You Are?, Grimm (NBC); The Finder, Fringe (Fox); Nikita, Supernatural (The CW); America’s Most Wanted (Lifetime); The Ultimate Fighter Live (FX); Fairly Legal (USA); The Half Hour (Comedy Central); Real Time With Bill Maher, The Ricky Gervais Show (HBO); Magic City (Starz)

Saturday Night Live (NBC/CW30, Saturday) Will Ferrell hosts, Usher sings. Both should be quite funny.

Reggie Watts: Live at Central Park (Comedy Central, Saturday) Stand-Up Special: Catch the biggest hair in comedy as comic/musician/multi-slash Reggie Watts makes the funny on several different stage sets.

Also new Saturday:
The Firm (NBC); Cats 101, Tanked (Animal Planet); iCarly (Nickelodeon); Flipped Off (A&E); The Thick of It, Katy Brand’s Big-Ass Show (BBC America)

Mad Men (AMC, Sunday) This week’s episode is, coincidentally, titled “Dark Shadows” (just like that new Johnny Depp movie!); here’s the typically vague synopsis from AMC: “Roger puts on his entrepreneur hat; Don asserts himself over his colleagues; Sally gets in over her head.” Come to Brewvies Cinema Pub (677 S. 200 West; 21+) and get in over your head with Mad Men for free on the big screen at 8 p.m., presented by City Weekly, True TV, Epic Brewing and Brewvies.

Season Finales Sunday: Once Upon a Time, Desperate Housewives (ABC); Survivor: One World (CBS); American Dad (Fox)—see True TV.

Also new Sunday:
Harry’s Law, Celebrity Apprentice (NBC); The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy (Fox); River Monsters (Animal Planet); Mythbusters (Discovery); Khloe & Lamar (E!); Sister Wives (TLC); The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Shahs of Sunset (Bravo); Wilson-Phillips: Still Holding On (TV Guide); Shannen Says (We); The Killing (AMC); Army Wives, The Client List (Lifetime); Loiter Squad, Metalocalypse (Adult Swim); Game of Thrones, Girls, Veep (HBO); Nurse Jackie, The Big C, The Borgias (Showtime)
