Lounge Act Tuesday

Posted By on November 15, 2011, 9:12 AM

Fundraisers for the environment and the world’s greatest tap dancer are on deck this Tuesday evening.---

HEAL Utah will host its fifth annual fundraiser party tonight at The State Room. Tunes will be provided by Eric McKenna Spreng and local band Better Off With the Blues, while environmentalists can grub on food from Rico's Mexican Market. The capstone of the night will be an educational lecture courtesy of Dr. Mark Z. Jacobson, professor at Stanford University. He will give a presentation on the potential for renewable energy to power the world, based on his research.

Over at Squatters Pub, there will be less lecturing and more imbibing for the environment. Save Our Canyons will be raising funds for its operations and advocacy while invoking Ullr, the Norse God of Snow (pictured above). Ticket price will include food from Squatters, live music by Matteo and Holy Water Buffalo, a screening of Powderwhore's newest film, Breaking Trail, a ski and board wax station and a killer raffle.

And to maintain the environmental thread, Westminster will host a lecture on “The Business Case for Sustainability” tonight.

For something a little different, head down to Provo, where Savion Glover will tap his melodic toes. Check out our A&E Essential write-up for more information.

Finally, Salt Lake Design Week will continue with a bevy of activities.
