Feast of Five Senses this Sunday

Posted By on September 15, 2011, 2:09 PM

If the name Feast of Five Senses isn’t scintillating enough in and of itself, then experience the culinary extravaganza at the annual Slow Food Utah fundraiser. It should be a sensory explosion, or, at a minimum, a fine evening for a good cause.---

If there were such a thing as a sixth sense, then Slow Food Utah has it for crafting a delightful evening. Local chefs will each prepare one delightful course each, which will be made from mostly locally sourced produce and meat. The seasonal bounty is high and it will be exciting to see what spin they put on Utah’s produce. A veritable “who’s who” of Salt Lake City food artistry, the lineup includes:

David Hammel of Liberty Heights Fresh
Greg Neville of Lugano
Ryan Lowder of Copper Onion
Nathan Powers of Bambara
Michael Richey of Pago
Amber Billingsley of Vinto
Letty Flatt of Deer Valley
Uinta Beer will offer beer pairings
Francis Fecteau of Libation will be pairing a wine with each course

The event will be held at Kimball Distributing Viking Showroom (2223 S. 300 East) on Sunday, Sept. 18 and will start at 5:30 p.m. Seats at the Chef’s Tables are sold out, but regular seating is still available. Cost is $85 for food with an optional $35 for wine pairings. Click here to register.

And it’s all for good cause. In a press release, Slow Food Utah says what the money will support: “This annual fundraiser allows Slow Food Utah to offer a wide range of programs and to fund the micro-grant program in order to fill gaps that they see in traditional funding sources for food-related projects, especially for small-scale food growers and producers, community innovators and educators. In past years, Slow Food Utah has funded schoolyard gardens, the Salt Lake Community College Seeds of Hope program and has helped small farmers build greenhouses to extend the growing season and start Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.”
