Lounge Act Thursday: Bright Eyes, Lord Huron, G. Love and more

Posted By on August 11, 2011, 4:00 AM

It's Thursday, so we might as well get the weekend started, yes? Plenty of options for your perusal.---

It's Twilight Concert Series night, and Thursday has one of the best lineups of the season with Bright Eyes (pictured) and Wild Nothing slated to hit the Pioneer Park stage at 7 p.m.

Up at Red Butte Garden, it's another fine musical option, with the soulful rock of G. Love and Special Sauce, with killer opener Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue bringing a bit of the Big Easy to the proceedings.

Kilby Court has Lord Huron, a remarkably creative Michigan-via-LA cat with a knack for dance-worthy rhythms in his tunes. He opened for Rural Alberta Advantage a while back, and it was a fine show. Definitely worth a listen.

For the non-musically inclined, a trip to the Main Library to see author Jeremy N. Smith chat about his book, Growing  a Garden City, about making communities hotbeds of organic farming and gardening. The chat starts at 7 p.m.

You can also set up shot at Brewvies to view the latest episodes of Louie and Wilfred with the City Weekly Street Team. Not a bad option for the anti-social or laugh-impaired.
