Lounge Act Wednesday: Supervillains and alt-rock heroes

Cursive fans (of the band, not the style of writing) will want to note the arrival of leader Tim Kasher Wednesday night. But he's just one option for the first November humpday.---

For me, Kasher (pictured) is clearly the evening's highlight. His show at The Urban Lounge in support of his stellar solo debut should be a great one. He's always been worth the price of admission on Cursive's past visits, and his efforts to recreate the orchestral pop on his new release, The Game of Monogamy, should be something to see.

If you're in Park City, the City Weekly Street Team will be partying down at the Star Bar for the Supervillains show. Stop by our table and get yourself some dope prizes.

Classical fans will want to mull over attending the University of Utah's Campus Symphony fall concert at Libby Gardner Hall, with a program featuring "Sullivan's Overture" from The Pirates of Penzance, Stravinksy's "Berceuse," and the finale from "Firebird."

The Salt Lake City Main Library is hosting a free screening of HBO documentary War Torn: 1860-2010 at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. And the Utah Museum of Fine Arts will be screening O Caminho das Nuvens for free at 6 p.m. The film explores a family's 2,000-mile journey across Brazil on bicycles.
