Lounge Act Tuesday: Hip-hop, roots-rock and serious dance music

Posted By on October 26, 2010, 9:18 AM

There's a bevy of musical options Tuesday night, from hip-hop to dance music, new folk to rootsy rock. Take a gander.---

This truly is one of those nights in SLC when it's hard to decide which show to go to, or how to juggle a couple of them. This is how folks in bigger cities live every day, and I'm glad we usually don't have to choose.

Your options:

The hip-hop heads out there will want to make their way to The State Room for the triple-bill of ex-Dilated Peoples cat Rakaa, ex-Jurassic 5 dude Chali 2Na and Lyrics Born; I've seen all three, and you should expect nothing less than excellence. And to sweat your booty off.

Dance-music fiends, the W Lounge is your spot for the double-headlining bill of the Gaslamp Killer and Daedelus, in what should be another sweaty spot to hang on a Tuesday.

SubPop's Avi Buffalo bring their nouveau-folk to Kilby Court for a gig with Spell Talk and the Young Yet Brilliant Sleuths. Some of y'all might remember Avi Buffalo from their gig opening for Modest Mouse at the first Twilight Concert Series show this summer.

Roots-music fans should take note of the Deer Tick (pictured) show at The Urban Lounge; you can read our interview with the boys right here.

And finally, pop songstress Ingrid Michaelson headlines tonight at In The Venue, while Horrorpops headline at Avalon Theater
