A couple of great albums came out on Tuesday, both definitely worth your hard-earned cash. Black Lips managed to release 200 Million Thousand despite their recent rumble with authorities in India, a kerfuffle that had the Southern boys kicked out of the country! They'll be stopping through Salt Lake City in April. That gives you a month to memorize all the songs on Thousand.
Laura Gibson's gorgeous sophomore release Beasts of Seasons once again highlights the Portland folk artist's hushed yet incredibly sturdy and powerful delivery backed by some of the Northwest's finest musicians (Laura Veirs, Shelly Short, Cory Gray, Rachel Blumberg and others). This could very well be Gibson's year. It certainly doesn't hurt that NPR loooooves her. She'll be hitting the SLC a bit earlier than the Lips on March 9. Here are a couple of videos to whet your appetite for both sets of artists.
